Cristiano Ronaldo Signs Contract Extension with Al-Nassr Until 2027

In a major development that cements Cristiano Ronaldo’s future in Saudi Arabia, Al-Nassr has officially announced the renewal of the Portuguese superstar’s contract, extending his stay at the club until 2027.

The announcement was made during the Club World Cup, where Sky Sports chief correspondent Carve Solhekol confirmed the news live from Orlando. Ronaldo, who joined Al-Nassr in January 2023 after parting ways with Manchester United, has committed to a new two-year deal that will see him remain with the Riyadh-based club until the age of 42.

“Al-Nassr have just announced that the contract has been signed,” Solhekol reported. “They’ve released pictures of Ronaldo signing the extension and a video of him walking along a beach, turning to the camera and saying, ‘Al-Nassr forever.’”

While the specific terms of the contract remain undisclosed, Ronaldo is widely considered to be the highest-paid footballer in the world. Industry sources in Saudi Arabia suggest his annual salary is close to €200 million (approximately £170 million), which translates to around £3.2 million per week.

Despite speculation about a possible move during the special transfer window earlier this month, particularly with several Club World Cup qualified teams reportedly interested, Ronaldo ultimately chose to stay loyal to Al-Nassr. One such rumored destination was Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr’s fierce rivals, but club insiders strongly denied any possibility of the star switching sides.

“There was interest from several clubs,” said Solhekol. “But Ronaldo, being Ronaldo, would only consider a team with serious chances of winning the competition. In the end, no agreement was reached, and he stayed put.”

Ronaldo’s decision to remain in Saudi Arabia is influenced not only by financial factors but also by sporting ambitions. He recently demonstrated excellent form for Portugal, playing a key role in their UEFA Nations League victory in Munich. With the 2026 FIFA World Cup on the horizon, Ronaldo reportedly believes that continuing in the Saudi Pro League will keep him in optimal condition to represent his country on the global stage.

Additionally, sources close to the player say he has grown deeply fond of life in Saudi Arabia and is even considering sports investment opportunities within the kingdom.

At present, Ronaldo sits on 938 career goals and remains laser-focused on reaching the 1,000-goal milestone — a target that could very well be achieved over the next two years with both Al-Nassr and Portugal.

Commenting on his renewed commitment, Ronaldo said:
“A new passion begins. The same passion, the same dream. Let’s make history together. Al-Nassr forever.”

Ronaldo has frequently dismissed retirement speculation, stating that he still feels in top form and is not thinking about ending his career any time soon. His continued dedication to physical fitness, evidenced by frequent training posts with his son on social media, underscores his intent to keep playing at the highest level for years to come.

Looking beyond 2027, many believe Ronaldo’s connection with Saudi Arabia will endure, especially with the country set to host the 2034 FIFA World Cup. With his legacy already deeply entwined with Saudi football, Ronaldo’s influence is likely to continue well beyond his playing days.
